Our Story

What started as a desperate attempt to find healing after trauma has turned into a powerful story of resilience, advocacy, and a mother-daughter bond like no other. Megan Cyrulewski and her 14-year-old daughter, Madelyne, have taken to TikTok to share their journey of recovery after a deeply painful chapter in their lives, sparking conversations, building community, and helping others feel less alone.

Last year, Madelyne was admitted to Embark at the Poconos, a residential treatment facility for adolescent girls. What was meant to be a place of healing turned into a nightmare. Madelyne was sexually abused by another girl at the facility who was 4 years older than her. To try to coverup the sexual assault, Embark and its employees emotionally and psychologically abused Madelyne and then charged $366,000 for the 75 days Madelyne was at Embark.

While the family is currently pursuing legal action due to the harm Madelyne endured, their focus now is on healing, and TikTok has become a vital part of that process.

Together, Megan and Madelyne have created a safe online space where they openly discuss trauma, mental health, and resilience. Through candid videos, shared stories, and moments of connection, they are not only rebuilding trust and hope but also showing others how to rise from devastation.

“TikTok became our lifeline,” said Megan. “It started with one post and quickly became a way for us to process, connect, and advocate. Watching my daughter reclaim her voice and seeing the love she receives from people all over the world has been part of her healing. It’s been part of mine, too.”

Their story has resonated with thousands. Comments pour in daily from parents, survivors, and teens who see themselves in Madelyne. They’re finding strength in her courage and solidarity in Megan’s fierce advocacy. The duo’s content is equal parts vulnerable, empowering, and educational, sparking a grassroots movement for transparency and reform in youth mental health care.

As of today, 1.1 million people have come together to get justice not just for Madelyne but for other survivors who were abused by Embark. This story recently caught the attention of a reporter from a highly recognized national media outlet who wants to expose the abuses and fraudulent practices at Embark.

While a civil lawsuit has been filed against Embark Behavioral Health and its affiliates, alleging serious misconduct and negligence, the family is choosing to focus their energy on creating change by building awareness and helping others heal.
